Parents of a four-month-old girl say she was attacked by a raccoon inside their Philadelphia home.
Ashley Rodgers says the attack happened Wednesday night in the family’s first-floor apartment located at North 22nd Street.
Rodgers says she had taken her six-year-old son to the bathroom while baby Jourini was asleep on a bed.
She returned to find her daughter on the floor with blood all over her face. Rodgers says the raccoon had dragged her across the room. She was laying on the floor— across the room — blood all over her face and her pjs,’ the horrified mom told Fox 26.
‘I thought it was a nightmare when I heard over the phone,’ the baby’s father, Samuel Black added.
‘My heart dropped. I didn’t know what to say, what to think.’
Heartbreaking images of the baby girl show claw marks across her face and blood gushing from the wounds.
The baby was taken to a hospital, where she received as many as 65 stitches. She is currently recovering.
The Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia says an officer responded to the home, but couldn’t find the raccoon.
Officers have since assessed the building and set traps. Officials say no raccoons have been caught yet.
Residents at the apartment complex complained to the news station about the raccoon infestation.
