Child killer Jon Venables has demanded plastic surgery – to be funded by the taxpayer – after photographs of his new identity circulated on the web, according to reports.
Venables, together with Robert Thompson, abducted, tortured and murdered two-year-old James Bulger in 1993 when they were just 10-years-old.
The pair were jailed but were later granted lifelong anonymity with new identities when they were freed on licence aged 18.
Venables was jailed again in 2008 for two years after he was found with child abuse images and in February this year he was recalled to prison for similar offences.
The killer, now 35, has reportedly begged for a feature-changing operation because he is terrified of being attacked or murdered when he is released again.
A prison source told the Daily Star: “He thinks his only chance of ever leading a normal life is to have plastic surgery.
“Venables said he doesn’t care what or who he looks like or what it costs. He says it’s a necessity to stay alive and his right.”
Actress Tina Malone has risked landing herself in jail by sharing an alleged image of Venables.
The TV star, 55, retweeted a Twitter picture which claimed to reveal the new identity of James Bulger’s killer.
Venables is protected by a lifelong anonymity order made in 1993 when he was jailed for murdering James.
The order prohibits anyone from posting photos they claim to be one of the killers.
