Gift Iyumame Uwame Eke popularly known as Muma Gee is a famous Nigerian singer, songwriter, recording artiste, actress, businesswoman, fashion designer, television personality and a politician. She was born on 18th November 1978 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in the south southern part of Nigeria. She is currently 39 years old. She is very beautiful, gifted, skillful, creative and talented.
Muma Gee is originally from Odiabidi, a small village in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State in the south southern part of Nigeria. She grew up in a strict Christian household. She is the third child in a family of six children. Her father, who was involved in Military Medicine died when she was a child.
After her father’s death, Muma Gee was raised by her mother. At the age of 4 years old, Muma Gee joined the local choir at her church, The Seventh-day Adventist Church. It was there that she began to realize her musical talent and potential.
Muma Gee completed both her primary and secondary school education in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.
After completing her primary and secondary school education in Abuja, Muma Gee proceeded to University of Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts.
After completing her university education, Muma Gee went into business and entrepreneurship. In addition to her academic background, she owned and operated numerous other businesses including vehicle leasing company, restaurant, tailor shop and beauty salon. She also became part of Port Harcourt’s burgeoning music scene, performing at nightclubs and inner city bars.
In 2004, she started her music career and became popular after releasing her hit single “Kade” which also became the title and first track of her first official album “Kade” which was released in 2006. The music video of her hit single “Kade” was directed by Wudi Awa and received five nominations including two AMEN Awards, one Nigerian Music Video Awards, one Headies Awards and one Sound City Music Video Awards for Best Picture and Best Costume.
In 2010, Muma Gee rose to prominence as a contestant on the celebrity edition of Nigerian reality TV series Gulder Ultimate Search. Prior to entering the show, she had worked on her second studio album The Woman in Question, that would be released a day after her eviction. In 3rd May 2010, Muma Gee released her second official studio album titled “The Woman in Question”. Amebo and African Juice were the two singles released from the second studio album.
Muma Gee have also collaborated with artists and producers such as Samini, VIP, OJB, Cobhams, Asuquo and Terry G amongst others. In 2009, she was nominated for four awards at the 3rd edition of the Nigerian Music Video Awards. In early 2012, Muma Gee started work on her third studio album titled “Motherland” with hit singles like Port Harcourt is Back, African Woman Skilashy and Jikele.
Muma Gee in the cause of her career as an artiste and actress has earned numerous achievements and honors which include Oonyon 1 of Upata Kingdom, Queen of African Music, Pop Queen and Mrs. Ngor-Okpala. Muma Gee social life and alleged relationships have gained widespread coverage in the media, with the most prominent being her emotional affair with former GUS campmate Emeka Ike.
In 2011, Muma Gee got married to Nollywood famous actor Prince Eke. On 18th April 2014, she gave birth to a set of twins comprising of a boy and a girl by the name Chika Eke and Chisa Eke. Apart from singing, Muma Gee is also an actress and has acted in few Nollywood movies which include Secret Code, Last Dance, Solid Affection, The Code, etc. Muma Gee is currently signed to Black Attraction Productions, Mgee Records and Geeklips Entertainment.
In October 2014, Muma Gee officially announced her intent to run for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives via the Ahoada East–Abua–Odual Constituency in Rivers State, Nigeria. She initially registered to run as a member of the Rivers State People’s Democratic Party, but later switched allegiance to the Labour Party, becoming the party’s nominee for the seat.
While elaborating on the reasons for her decision to join politics, Muma Gee described the move as the appropriate means to “liberate her people” who she says deserves representation that is qualitative and has their best interest in mind. Unfortunately, she was defeated at the federal election by Betty Apiafi, who ran as a PDP candidate and who has represented the constituency since 2007.
Muma Gee currently lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria with her actor husband, Prince Eke and with whom she has been happily married to since 2011. Muma Gee and her husband, Prince Eke are both devoted Christians.
As of 18th April 2014, Muma Gee and her husband, Prince Eke had two children, a twin boy and girl, whom they named Chika Eke and Chisa Eke. Their third child and second daughter by the name Okwuluoka was born on the same day as her father Prince Eke, which was on 18th August 2016.
Muma Gee is currently one of the richest and most influential female artiste in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $1 million.
